Urban Fishing: 3 HOT tips for city smallies!

If there’s one thing that’s true about smallmouth, it’s that they LOVE current. While many metropolitan areas might not be located near some of the powerhouse smallmouth factories you hear about all the time like Erie, Ontario, Pickwick, or St. Claire, most of them are near some sort of tributary/river system that hold big smallmouth. These fish might not match up in size to their cousins in the Great Lakes, but battling these fish in heavy current will demand focus and determination. Hooking a 4 pounder in the Susquehanna River is no exception. Hold on tight, and enjoy the ride!

An inside look at #ItsRainingGear 2015

#ItsRainingGear (IRG) is back and by now I’m sure you’ve seen a little bit about it, but maybe you’re wondering how it started or what all these prizes are about. So to begin with, IRG originated in 2014 during discussions with the marketing team at Stormr. We wanted to give away some product but they thought it would be really cool if I could bring together some of the great companies that had supported me that year to deliver a MASSIVE giveaway to one lucky winner, and it was packed with some pretty cool stuff. This year we decided to do it again and we got some really incredible support. Eastern Mountain Sports is probably the biggest addition to the group, being one of the largest outdoor retailers in the United States. G2 Gemini, Navionics, Vexilar, and Elite Tungsten are all back again and are joined this year by Lazer Trokar, Wright McGill, Yo-Zuri, Slop Frog Baits, Montauk Tackle Company, and one of-if not THE-premiere smallmouth guide in Upstate NY Bill Lortz of NY Northcountry Bassin. It’s a HUGE package of prizes worth over $2,500 that’ll arrive to one lucky winner before the 2015 Holiday Season. So what’s inside? Continue reading An inside look at #ItsRainingGear 2015

When you think of fall fishing you think reaction baits, fish gorging themselves and generally being rather easy to catch. But sometimes fishing can be really tough, and that’s when these presentations can be really key to landing those GIANT smallmouth bass that people dream about! 5 Tips for Giant Fall Bass!

This has been one of the best years of my career, and with Fall fast approaching I plan to continue the momentum I have had going thus far right through to the end of the year. This is by far my favorite season because the fish get real aggressive, and it suits my style of fishing very well. The key to the big fish is that they want to eat one BIG meal, and they don’t want to work hard to get it. With that said, here are some tips that will help you decide where to target those fish, and details on what baits to throw, how to throw them, and when, so that you too can have the kind of dream season that people live for!
